Our Dementia and Alzheimer's Services are designed to support individuals and families through the varying stages of dementia. You will find that the more you know about the illness, the more peaceful and full your lives will be. It is our mission to provide you with the information and support you need to care for your loved one in the best possible way. Our specialists will develop a personalized plan of care based on your specific needs. Our team of experts are available to support you throughout the duration of the illness. We can assist you by providing information, opportunities for support, help in finding services and developing a plan of care that will focus on the strengths of the person with the disease as well as the family. We provide a range of services for those with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. Staff members who have been trained in dementia care will determine the individual’s strengths and assist in the planning and provision of services throughout the course of the disease. The plan of care includes: • Dementia experts who will work with you and your family • Education classes and information on a variety of topics • Safety and environmental review • Referral for diagnostic services if dementia is suspected • Adult Day Services • Senior Center groups • Support groups for the individual and for the caregiver • Counseling for the individual or family • In-home care such as bathing, respite and homemaking • Library resources • Linking to other community resources
From diagnosis and throughout the course of the disease, Senior Services will provide the special care that those with dementia need. We will work with you to develop a range of service options specific to the needs of your family. Early intervention is important because it: • Provides a greater reduction of caregiver stress and burnout • Allows the involvement by the patient in decision-making • Provides for an enhanced quality of life for the individual, the caregiver and the family • Delays or prevents nursing home placement
The time and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias can be lengthy. Studies show that accepting assistance and learning coping strategies are most effective when started as soon as possible.
