Handyman Services

Senior Services offers a handyman program for seniors in Midland County. A volunteer team of handymen and handywomen help seniors maintain their homes by making them safe and in secure condition. Team Handyman also makes small repairs and do other handy tasks.

Many aging older adults have to give up the independence of living in their home simply because the home has not been modified for their safety. Senior Services Team Handyman to the rescue! They will make sure that:

  • All exterior doors are secure
  • Windows and screens are secure and working
  • The outside entrance lights are working
  • The exterior areas around the house are safe
  • Slip hazards inside the home such as, rugs, cords, etc. are secured
  • Stairs and handrails are secure
  • Ceiling light bulbs are replaced
  • Anti-slip surfaces are installed in bath tubs
  • Grab bars are installed
  • Raised toilet seats are installed

 

The team also installs smoke alarms, repairs telephone jacks, offers energy efficient light bulbs, provides winterization and completes many other small repairs and tasks.

 

Labor and parts are free to seniors in Midland County who own their homes. However, donations are greatly appreciated and are used to help expand the program and help more people in the community.

 

Team Handyman has great volunteers who are helping to keep our Midland County seniors at home in a safe and secure environment. This program helps us provide a more comprehensive coordination of care by assisting seniors in another area of need. 

Are There Things Team Handyman Won’t Do?
Team Handyman will not do the following:
  • Roof work
  • Eaves replacement or cleaning
  • Plumbing projects without a shut off valve
  • Crawl space work
  • Lawn and garden work
  • Painting
  • Floor replacement
  • Wash windows
  • No chemical applications
  • Furniture moving or rearranging
  • Any job which is outside of the available talent of the volunteers currently available
