New Sanford Activity & Dining Center and
Jerome Township Recreation & Wellness Park

The Sanford Center is a home away from home for many of its participants. It’s where they gather with their friends who have become like family, and spend their days building a sense of community and camaraderie. With the center rendered uninhabitable due to the 2017 flood, many participants feel hopeless and lost. Senior Services intends to create a safer, more stable “home” where Sanford Center participants can come together, a place where they will no longer have to fear the building flooding, and where they can continue to grow together for a brighter future.

At the same time, Jerome Township has been planning to establish a nature-based recreation park with amenities open to residents of all ages, physical capacities, and income levels. Township officials envision an area with accessible walking trails, pavilion, picnic area, multi-generational outdoor exercise area, and tennis/pickle ball courts.

In pursuing these two future visions, Senior Services, Jerome Township, and all of Midland County have a wonderful opportunity to enhance the quality of life for community residents with a new joint venture that will create a multi-generational, multi-purpose, inclusive recreation/wellness and enrichment complex. The synergy of joining two progressive community objectives will produce an extremely attractive and vibrant destination that supports improved health, fitness, and socialization for all ages and levels of ability.

Senior Services and Jerome Township have received generous gifts from area foundations and the community toward this project. However, we haven’t quite reached the goal and we need your help in making this vision come to life.

Please consider making a gift today to help us “Build a Legacy for All Generations.”
