Join “A Sweet Life!” It’s a diabetes self-management program that helps people with diabetes or pre-diabetes live a full, active life in spite of the disease. Many times we’ve been taught do’s and don’ts, but it’s putting it into practice that gets us stuck.
“A Sweet Life” helps give the support and confidence needed to lead a healthy, active life. Multiple studies prove the effectiveness of this class. Six months after the workshop, participants show significant improvements in depression, symptoms of hypoglycemia, communication with physicians, healthy eating, and reading food labels. They also have significant improvements in activity level and self-confidence. Improvements are even seen in follow-up 12 months later!
In the 6-week workshop, people with type 2 diabetes and/or close family members learn current information on diabetes management, make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems in creating and carrying out their plan. Classes are highly participative, with mutual support and success building the participants’ ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.
