At Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens in Midland, work is underway on the longest canopy walk in the country, where guests of all ages and abilities will engage with nature on an elevated walkway rising 40 feet above the forest floor.
Additional components of the project include a visitor center, playground, apple orchard, forest classroom, café, creek restoration and two pedestrian bridges. Kyle Bagnall, Program Manager of Whiting Forest, will provide a full overview of this amazing project, including historical stories of this special 54-acre parcel, operated by the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation for the benefit of our community. A grand opening is scheduled for the spring of 2019. Join us to learn more about this incredible project and what you might expect to see and do when it’s complete! Kyle Bagnall joined the Dow Gardens staff as Program Manager for Whiting Forest in July 2017. Prior to working at Dow Gardens, he served as Manager of Historical Programs at Chippewa Nature Center for 22 years.
